awesome site you have here, but what happened to panic button
@GSW- Thank you friend. It's been a long haul, but I'm improving. Unfortunately, it's probably only temporary, as my back problems are quite severe :( Keeping my fingers crossed that everything holds together.
Thanks for all your great posts. I love the soundtrack for "The Penitent" so much I rushed out and bought the movie. Unfortunately it was only released in VHS but it only set me back 98cents! The reviews were fantastic so thanks for pointing me in the direction of the movie.
I had heard the soundtrack to Tin Star a few months ago, while watching the film and kept wondering that why something this good remained unpublished! Heartfelt thanks, but track 12 is corrupt as another friend mentioned before me. What are the chances of getting a "good" track#12?
Hey Tony, you're doing an awesome job! I wanted to pick up the soundtrack of the movie 'Sounder' but sadly, it was no longer availbale. As a huge fan of Taj Mahal's work, I'd like to put my hands on it :) .
Hi, Tony! Thank you very much for this amazing blog :) I would like to ask you if is there any chance you could upload the soundtrack from the movie AUTHOR! AUTHOR!by Dave Grusin/Johnny Mandel. I'm looking for this ost for long time. Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!! :-)
Has anyone around here ever come across a demo record by Richard Shores (Hawaii Five 0, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) called "Score!"? I'd love to hear this
For anyone who has asked for re-ups, I'll will try to get to them all, probably more later than sooner...sorry about that, but I just don't have that much time on my hands to fulfill every request right away.
Thanks so much for your labor-of-love compilation of Quincy Jones soundtrack cuts.
I've been thinking about this a lot, and if I ever get the opportunity to talk to Mr. Jones, I'd love to get his thoughts about this. Take a look at the wide variety of films he scored in the '60s and '70s. Heist movies. British spy dramas. Fluffy romantic comedies. Westerns. Jewish show-biz comedies. And the stars of the films he scored: Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman... For the life of me, I cannot name a single African-American mainstream film composer who followed in Quincy Jones' pioneering footsteps in the past 40 years. Q (and to a lesser extent, Oliver Nelson) was up for the same gigs as Mancini, Schifrin, Goldsmith, all the top composers of the time. The fact that he's black meant NOTHING to the directors and studios that selected him to score their major motion pictures. Nowadays black composers are hired to score films with black-audience appeal, period (if there are scores at all).
Listening to these cuts, and remembering the diversity of Quincy Jones' filmography, saddens me to realize how far we HAVEN'T come. Thanks for your fine work, and happy new year.
@Memo2self - Thank you for your comments and observations. Q.J. was and is an amazing composer. There are so many unreleased scores that I would happily embrace. He did cover a plethora of genres, and did them all-- equally brilliant. Unfortunately many of the films produced these days are score-less. They have substance, but no body. That's my two-cents.. Very happy you're enjoying my compilation. Thanks again :)
Hi Tony, could you possibly pease re-up Nick Bîcat's THEMES FROM FILM & TV? The RS-Link is dead and I fear I lost the files from my 1st download in a previous computer crash... Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks and best wishes!
@Tony my amazing brother, it's always a true pleasure to hear from you :) Thanks for stopping by at my blog.
Maybe I should call you "the Great St. Tony". I don't know how you manage to pull it off everytime. All of your postings are the hardest to find scores by highly talented and beloved artists. You simply never cease to amaze me. I am so glad to be calling myself a friend of Tony... Really, I do. Your pleasanteness is always easily detectible in your messages, however short they may be. I wish you and your Dad the best health and peace possible.
Hello Tony, I'm very glad to find this blog with amazing scores :) I am looking for the soundrack Author! Author! from Dave Grusin (1982) Can you help me, please? I would be infinitely grateful if you could upload this.
